Equality Bulletin #34: Follow the Money
In the 34th Edition of the Equality Bulletin themed “Follow the Money,” the National Gender and Equality Commission places Kenya’s public finance system under sharp focus, driving Gender Responsive Budgeting across Turkana County, Marsabit County and Wajir County to ensure budgets respond to real inequalities; the edition also captures deepened safeguarding work with Plan International Kenya, strategic collaboration with the European Union Delegation to Kenya, and a high-level exchange with South Africa’s Limpopo Provincial Legislature on tackling gender-based violence, while spotlighting reforms in child-responsive budgeting, human rights reporting under the African Union, inclusion in anti-corruption efforts with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and grassroots impact through initiatives like the SAWA Project and community justice partnerships, reinforcing that equitable development is ultimately defined by how public resources are planned, allocated and experienced across society.
