The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and Population Council Kenya have developed a draft Inclusive School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV) Reporting and Response Model for Nairobi County schools.
The draft builds on an evidence synthesis and on engagement in four Nairobi County schools. A Technical Working Group has supported the process from its inception, reviewing the evidence synthesis and guiding the school-level engagement.
WHAT THE MODEL PROPOSES
The draft sets out a tiered implementation approach, an operational reporting and response pathway, institutional roles and referral arrangements.
It also poses specific questions on which the Technical Working Group’s input is required before the model proceeds to wider validation.
NEXT STEPS
A workshop of the Technical Working Group is refining the draft to strengthen inclusive, coordinated and effective reporting and response mechanisms, so that schools provide safe learning environments for all learners.
