The Baricho Law Courts have set 4 November 2026 for the mention of Republic v. Kennedy Gachioki after the prosecution reported that the case file had not reached the trial court.
The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), led by Advocate Desire Njamwea, appeared at the scheduled mention. The appearance follows the Commission’s intervention in the matter.
The prosecution informed the court that the file had not been presented from the headquarters of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The court issued the further mention date to allow the matter to proceed once the file is availed.
The Commission said its legal representation and advocacy are directed at fair, humane and inclusive justice processes, and at safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities, particularly where barriers hinder their meaningful participation in the justice system.
