Presentations to the fifteenth Development Partnership Forum reported that the NYOTA programme has benefited more than one million young Kenyans.
The forum was chaired by the Deputy President, H.E. Kithure Kindiki, and was attended by the Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) .
The forum carried a strong focus on young people. The presentations set out the Government’s efforts to place young people at the centre of decision-making and of the country’s economic transformation.
Alongside NYOTA, the presentations covered Kazi Majuu, Recognition of Prior Learning and dual training, through which the Government is investing in pathways that equip young people with the skills, opportunities and certifications required to participate meaningfully in the economy.
Recognition of Prior Learning enables young people to obtain certification on the basis of skills and experience acquired through previous training and work. Dual training connects classroom learning to practical workplace experience and prepares young people for the demands of the twenty-first century labour market.
