The Kilifi Regional Office of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) convened the quarter one Equality and Inclusion Technical Working Group and gender-based violence meeting at the Kilifi Convention Centre.
The meeting brought together stakeholders to strengthen coordination and to mainstream equality, inclusion and the prevention of and response to gender-based violence in Kilifi County.
It was supported by Tiko, an African non-profit organisation that partners with governments, health providers and community-based organisations to improve access to integrated healthcare for adolescent girls across sub-Saharan Africa.
The meeting reviewed quarterly achievements, emerging challenges and gender-based violence trends. Discussions addressed the strengthening of disability inclusion and the coordination of responses to gender-based violence so that they answer the needs of Special Interest Groups.
The Commission leads the thematic area and provides technical leadership and coordination on gender equality, inclusion and freedom from discrimination in Kilifi County
