The National Gender and Equality Commission has donated two 10,000-litre water tanks and sanitary kits to Kapua Integrated School in Turkana Central as part of Customer Service Week. The visit on Wednesday 7 October 2026 came as Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners at the school prepare for their national assessments. The Chairperson, Hon. Rehema Jaldesa, handed a success card to each Grade 6 and Grade 9 learner.

 ASSESSMENTS AHEAD

The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment will run from 26 to 30 October 2026. The Kenya National Examinations Council will assess 3,634,846 candidates nationally across its examinations this year.

WATER IN KAPUA

A reliable water supply was among the needs raised by the Ilimanyang community in Kapua during its dialogue with the Commission the same day. Members also asked for more schools, and attributed their community’s under-representation to low levels of education and literacy.

Water scarcity affects much of the county, where successive failed rains have left more than 322,000 people projected to need food assistance. The donation was made under the Commission’s corporate social responsibility programme, which takes services to vulnerable communities.
