The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties have agreed to conduct a joint audit of political parties ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The two institutions held a consultative meeting on the audit. The engagement examined compliance with the constitutional and legal requirements on equality, inclusion and non-discrimination within political parties, including the participation and representation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, older members of society, minorities and marginalised communities.
The Commission and the Registrar said the joint audit will strengthen collaboration between the two institutions, promote inclusive political party practice, and support a more equitable and accountable environment for participation in the 2027 electoral process.
