The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), through its Kitui Regional Office, held a one-day sensitisation forum on Climate-Smart Agriculture practices for women entrepreneurs in Kitui.

The forum brought together stakeholders, agricultural experts and women-led enterprises to share practical approaches to farming and doing business in a changing climate.

FARMING THE DRYLANDS

Participants examined climate-resilient farming techniques, sustainable resource management and adaptive business strategies suited to dryland environments, where every drop of water and every planting decision counts.

The Commission notes that women are central to food production and household food security, yet are often the first to feel the effects of climate change and the last to access the knowledge, resources and markets that build resilience.

THE MANDATE

The forum forms part of the Commission’s work to promote gender equality, inclusive economic empowerment and climate resilience for women and other vulnerable groups.
