The Garissa Regional Office of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) is facilitating a three-day capacity building workshop on strengthening community action to end female genital mutilation. The workshop is held in collaboration with UNICEF Kenya, the European Union in Kenya, ActionAid Kenya and the Northern Aid Development Fund, and brings together grassroots actors and partners.
WHAT IS COVERED
Sessions cover human rights and the human rights-based approach, gender-based violence and female genital mutilation, gender and legal frameworks, referral pathways, power dynamics, movement building, advocacy, community resource mobilisation and campaign planning. Participants are gaining practical knowledge and skills to engage communities, strengthen referral and support systems, and advocate for lasting change.
The training also provides grassroots actors with an opportunity to share experiences, identify community-driven solutions and strengthen collaboration among partners working to prevent and eliminate the practice.
