The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) has intensified efforts to enhance justice reform and service delivery in tackling Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Makueni County. Led by Commissioner Nzomo Mbithuka, the Commission facilitated a public education forum targeting duty bearers to strengthen institutional responses and ensure effective protection for survivors.

“Justice is only meaningful when it is accessible, timely, and responsive to those most vulnerable,” said Commissioner Mbithuka during the forum.

The engagement brought together local leaders, law enforcement officers, social service providers, and legal practitioners to discuss practical measures for improving responses to SGBV cases affecting Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized populations.

Central to the discussions was the development of effective strategies for preventing, reporting, and responding to SGBV. The forum and clinics specifically focused on Special Interest Groups, recognizing the heightened vulnerability of these populations to SGBV.
