The Commission has called for stronger implementation of the recommendations of the Presidential Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence, including Femicide.
Speaking during a National Consultative Workshop on implementation of the Task Force report, NGEC Director of Programmes and Research, Mr Paul Kuria, called for coordinated action addressing the underlying drivers of GBV and femicide.
He emphasised that Kenya already has a legal and policy framework and that the immediate challenge is effective implementation.
Priority areas identified include stronger institutional coordination, survivor-centred services, timely investigations, professional case management and sustained investment in prevention.
The Commission also highlighted the need for survivors to access healthcare, psychosocial support, legal assistance, safe shelters and justice mechanisms without intimidation or unnecessary delays.
The consultative forum brought together government institutions, constitutional commissions, the justice sector, county governments, development partners, civil society, faith leaders and the media.
The focus was on translating recommendations into practical interventions that strengthen prevention, survivor support, institutional coordination and accountability.
