The Turkana County Chief Officer for Gender and Youth Affairs Evans Lomodei, has undertaken to plan interventions jointly with the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) ahead of its leadership mission to the county.
The undertaking was given during a courtesy call by the Commission led by NGEC’s Regional Coordinator Nahashon Lotaruk on the Chief Officer. The engagement covered county programmes targeting Special Interest Groups, among them women, youth, children, persons with disabilities, older persons, and minorityIt also covered the areas of partnership through which equality and inclusion can be strengthened in county policies, programmes and service delivery. Lomodei was briefed on the establishment of the Commission’s Lodwar Regional Office, which serves the North Rift and Ateker regions and brings Commission services closer to communities. Discussions further covered preparations for the Commission’s leadership mission to Turkana County.
He welcomed the Commission’s presence in the region and reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to working with the Commission and the State Department in planning interventions jointly and supporting the mission. and marginalised communities.
