NGEC pays tribute to late Jane Kiano

The Commission has eulogized former Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairperson and Patron the late Jane Mumbi Kiano as an accomplished crusader for the empowerment of women, influencer and a human rights defender of all times in a glowing tribute following her death- Friday.

Commission Chairperson Dr. Joyce Mutinda said the Commission was saddened by the death of Jane Kiano but chose to remember her as an indefatigable woman leader in her own right who championed the cause of gender equality at a time when her generation considered the women movement radical and unconventional.

“Her contribution is forever inscribed in the history of our Country as a believer of justice and gender equality and one who defended the ideals of social, economic and political emancipation”. Said Dr. Mutinda.

The Chairperson said the Commission was extending its condolences to her family, friends and relatives and prayed to God that they gather the strength to overcome the grief and cope with the loss.
