SIGs trained on Access to Government Procurement Opportunities(AGPO)

Over 40 participants drawn from youth, women and persons with disabilities groups working in the informal sectors have benefited from a one day training workshop on ‘Access to Government Procurement Opportunities’  (AGPO) program facilitated by   the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) in collaboration with Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW), an international NGO, with financial support from the European Union.

The training was aimed at sensitizing the youth, women and persons with disability on the 30% government procurement opportunities as directed by President, Uhuru Kenyatta in October 16th, 2013 in Nairobi.

Under (AGPO) the groups were sensitized on the procurement qualifications and requirements, registration process, available opportunities and how to obtain information about the program. The groups also learnt about procurement, tendering and payment processes.

AGPO was launched to economically empower the disadvantaged and marginalized groups specifically women, youth and persons with disabilities.
